These microprocessor-controlled wall-mount power supplies have a flexible auto-ranging output stage which provides a higher output voltage at lower output current, or a higher output current at lower output voltage ( limited to the maximum nominal output power). In this way a wide range of applications can be covered by the use of a single unit. Overvoltage protection (OVP) will, in the case of overvoltage, disconnect the output voltage automatically and generate an alarm on the front panel and analogue interface. Remote sense enables the sense input to be connected directly to the load, to compensate voltage drops along the power leads and ensure that the accurate required voltage is available on the load.
