600 Watt HSW600 Series

The HSW600 series are suitable for use where water cooling is available and space is limited. Heat is extracted internally through the cooling pipe and externally by direct mounting onto a chassis or additional water cooled heatsink, thereby reducing temperature gradient across internal insulation. Applications include semiconductor protection and inrush current limiting.
Rated at 600W when mounted on 3750cm² ´ 3mm aluminium plate with 25°C water flowing at a rate of 2 litres per minute.

Aluminium Housed, Wirewound - 10W to 600W

Aluminium housed power wire wound resistors designed for direct heatsink attachment and ideal for restricted space applications.
The tape or wire element is wound onto a high thermal conductivity ceramic former and transfer moulded into a hard anodised aluminium housing with a high temperature encapsulent ensuring good humidity sealing and thermal conductivity together with an extremely high insulation resistance.
Application Note: Derate linearly from full power to zero at 200°C. For maximum heat transfer it is recommended that a heatsink compound is applied between the resistor base and heatsink/chassis mounting surface. For suitable compounds see the Adhesives/Sealants/Tapes section in Book 3.
When mounted on the recommended heatsink, in an ambient temperature of 25°C and provided the voltage rating is not exceeded, the permitted overload is:
2 x rating for 3 minutes
5 x rating for 5 seconds
10 x rating for 1 second
Do not exceed the 10 x rating even if the duration of the overload is less than 1 second.
