A fibre optic system consisting of transmitter and receiver, for transmitting data over glass fibre/plastic fibre cable. With glass fibre cable, the system can achieve transmission speeds up to 5 MBd over distances up to 2.5 km. The transfer uses infrared (820 nm) light. The receiver has an open collector output, compatible with TTL/CMOS logic levels, with a fan out of 5 TTL loads. The transmitter and receiver are designed for SMA connectors and cable dimensions up to 50/150μ, 62.5/125μ and 100/140μ.
